FIBER COLLEGE

PLAN YOUR STAY

Lay your head down

Lay Your Head DownHere at the Guild, we believe that the ultimate Maine experience involves making, eating and celebrating outside in the afternoon sun, swathed in the ocean fog or under the stars on a crisp night. If you enjoy the outdoors far too much to stay in a hotel, you can pitch a tent and sleep under the stars, stay in a camping cabin or park your RV and plug into some of the best camping in New England. Searsport Shores Ocean Campground is where families and outdoor enthusiasts come to get away.

If you lean more towards a solid roof over your head and a soaking tub, we have partnered with two award winning Searsport Lodging facilities: the iconic Yardarm Motel and the luxurious Captain Nickels Inn.  When you go to the registration page of the retreats, you'll click one of these options and we'll take care of the rest.  Please note that a block of rooms are being held for us until July 15th for Captain Nickels and August 15th for the Yardarm Motel.

Your journey to Searsport

Our events are located on Route One between the village of Searsport and the town of Belfast. Enterprise Car Rental has an office in Belfast and will deliver to Searsport Shores Ocean Campground. Concord Trailways bus service has a drop-off just a mile up the road from the Campground and we’d be happy to pick you up at the Searsport Bus Stop with enough advanced notice.

Bangor International Airport is 45 minutes Northwest of us and Portland International Jetport is 2 hours South.  Another option is to fly in Logan International Airport in Boston, rent a car there and drive up...it's a beautiful 200 mile drive! We'd be happy to suggest towns and villages worthy of a visit along the way.

If you choose to stay at the Yardarm Motel, the Concord Trailways bus will drop you off across the street from the motel and Rick & Sabrina have graciously offered to provide transportation to and from the campground each day.

What to wear

What to wear Give priority to the beautiful handmade garments in your drawers...Fiber College is a time to let the real you enjoy the sunshine! The old adage, “if you don’t like the weather, wait a minute” is real. Cover all of your bases by planning your wardrobe. Base your choices on layers that you can add and subtract as necessary including a windbreaker. Your shoes should be sturdy and comfortable. Pack rain gear for good measure. Dress is always casual and letting your personality shine through is considered a virtue.

"May your clothes be a collage of recycled textiles and trinkets...that they speak of a life well lived.  Fear not bright colors and delicious textures...aren't they among the greatest joys in life?"

Well mannered service dogs are welcome in the classroom spaces provided they are not distracting to others around you.
