Hand craft a cutting board
With Richard Legere
Richard has been a builder and woodworker most of his life and loves to teach. Students will make their own cutting board. The program includes all supplies and wood necessary to build and take home your own cutting board and the skills to try other projects on your own. Learn to select different wood species, prepare an appealing pattern, edge glue and clamping, sanding and edging and finishing and maintaining custom cutting boards for many years of use.

With Lin Elkins
Lin Elkins is a furniture designer and craftswoman. Her work explores purposeful functionality, playfulness, and art, often taking a modern twist on traditional craft techniques. Lin strives to create socially and environmentally conscious goods that foster healthy, sustainable, and enriched lives. She will be demonstrating how to weave a traditional Appalachian hand broom. Learn how to prep materials, bind a broom, and add a detailed weaving. Styles will include a whisk broom, turkey wing, and hawks tail.
Steam Bent Cooking Paddles

Time tested kitchen tools that you'll be reaching for every day. James will be teaching how to steam bend wood for useful kitchen tools. James Hsiang is a woodworker, boatbuilder, gardener, and cook living in South China, Maine. With help of volunteers, he built the Greenland kayak for the Maker's Guild of Maine's raffle fundraiser andJames will have salad serving sets, tea trays, and all-purpose wooden carriers--great for gardening and other uses--available for purchase.
